Objectives:
Students will be able to... 1. identify and define various types of figurative language by completing a review activity and worksheet. 2. Demonstrate understanding of "The Banana Tree" by reading the story and answering comprehension questions. Standards: RL.6.5a Do Now: (10 minutes) See PowerPoint Whole Group: (20 minutes) As a class, we will briefly review figurative language. Stations: (45 minutes) Direct: Students will engage in additional review of figurative language taught by Mr. Williams Independent: Students will work on Summit. Students should either be working on the Plot playlist, or if they have already completed it, they should begin working on the Figurative Language Playlist. Collaborative: (45 minutes) Students will get back into the reading groups they were in last week. With their group, students will continue reading "The Banana Tree" and answering the comprehension questions that go along with it. Exit Ticket: (10 minutes) See PowerPoint Homework: The Pharaoh Visual Representation is due tomorrow! Remember, this is part of your Ancient Egypt Museum Project, so make sure you are putting in your best effort.
