Objectives;
Students will be able to... 1. Review figurative language by completing the packet we began yesterday. 2. Comprehend "The Banana Tree" by reading the text and answering comprehension questions in groups. Standards: RL.6.5 Do Now: See PowerPoint Whole Group: Students will be given time to complete the packets we started yesterday. Once the class has finished, we will review the types of figurative language that we've started learning. Collaborative: Students will be put in groups of three and assigned group roles. The three roles and their descriptions are included below: 1. Reader - This person in responsible for reading the text out loud to their other group members. 2. The Note taker - This person in in charge of filling out the guided questions worksheet. The note taker will also serve as the facilitator, making sure that members of the group are on task and that the whole group is using their time effectively. 3. The Artist - the artist will complete two drawings for the group related to the story. The directions for what this student will be doing are on the packet that will be passed out.
